We know the iconic brands; Sanderson, Cole and Son, Osborne and Little, Jane Churchill.......
While working on a client project to create a Scottish Pub, I was falling short on just the right wallpaper. Knowing I was coming to The Land of Wallpaper, I could delve deeper into the lesser known brands
A smallish company with exciting papers and fabrics, this company came highly recommended
Calling themselves an Art House, the originality drew me in
Ephemera
Sweet in a little boys room
Possibilities presented themselves. Then I heard about Andrew Martin......SCORE!Very graphic, very original, very detailed with excellent trompe l'oeil effects.
Yes, wallpaper!
Viola! This is the one, well provided my client agrees. The plan is for a dark wooden wainscoting. The final design has not yet been approved but imagine something like the image below. The wallpaper will be a half to three-quarter wall display only.
Won't this be perfect?Amazing isn't it?
Designer Tip
Do not forget your ceilings to great effect

Oh my gosh, I have got to look up these Andrew Martin papers. There were so many I would love to have in a room. I cannot believe how believable the raised paneled wall papers (no pun intended) are! Now you've done it, this will be on my list for the next time I'm redoing a room. Great find, Debra!

I have a question (or three). Is the photo with the dark paneling 3/4 of the way up the wall (there is a staircase in the background thru a doorway) actually wallpaper? Where can you see this wallpaper in person? Who sales it? Thanks for posting this! Pamela
ReplyDeletegood observation pamela! the photo with the paneling/stairs in background is actually wood panels. that being said, there are images shown of wallpaper that looks like wood paneling. this brings to mind another option; one could use the wood paneling wallpaper on the lower half of the wall, add a piece of real wood trim, then a patterened wallpaper on top of that. make sense?
ReplyDeleteto see the papers, go to the web sites of each manufacturer, and look up "stockists" that will direct you to someone nearby. you can also see samples on line.
if it helps, seeing and handling these papers in person was a great opportunity, it is very high quality with gorgeous patterns
good luck!

meant to say ORDER samples on line, not see....
ReplyDeleteJust looked them up and made an inquiry about the regency oak wallpaper! Thanks for responding! Hope it won't be too costly to order. I have the perfect room for it! Pamela
ReplyDeleteI would say you found a great source for wallpaper. I found a fabric source that I love called Ian Makin, you probably already know about them, but if you don't they are a delight to work with and have the most beautiful checks and stripes in the best clear colors. I chose a cobalt buffalo check for a small chair and pillow and I will use them again, when I need something like that. Thanks for sharing this source!
ReplyDeleteWonderful designs. I am particularly intrigued by the one with city names arranged as if for a subway line. Fascinating.
ReplyDeleteGreat wallpaper...love the wood paneling paper.
ReplyDeleteSo many great wallpapers - love all of the trompe l'oeil papers!! Happy Tuesday. Debra ~
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous... Always love a great paper on the ceiling!
